Away Day Guide – Derby

On Saturday, August 2nd, Rangers travel to Derby for a pre-season friendly match at the iPro Stadium, with a kick off of 1pm. In this guide, you will find essential travel information, weather information and police information as well.

Travel Information

The easiest way to travel to Derby will be by train. Cross Country services provide a direct service from Edinburgh to Derby. Trains at 0608, 0700, 0707 and 0805 from Edinburgh will ensure that you arrive at Derby with plenty time to spare before the match. If you are travelling from Glasgow Central or Queen Street, please be aware that there will be queuing systems in place due to Glasgow 2014 so please allow extra time for travel. The Stadium is a half an hour walk from the stadium.

Another method of travel will be by supporters bus. Supporters buses will be pulled over by police close to Derby and advised where to park so please be prepared for this. Most buses will be parked close to the iPro Stadium next to DW Sports. Alcohol is permitted on buses in England however police will have restrictions on Alcohol that can be taken into the stadium.

For those who are driving down, there will be limitations on parking around the stadium. Derby will provide parking however it will be at a cost and will most likely be for Derby fans only. If travelling by car, the journey will take approximately 5 hours. Street parking is expected to be limited so we advise that you travel by train or supporters bus.

The address for the Stadium is

Pride Parkway
Derby
DE24 8XL

Local Pubs/Bars/Restaurants

There are a number of pubs/bars for pre/post match drinks. Derby Football Club have a beer tent which will be outside the stadium for Over 18’s only, and you must have ID if you are under 25. Alternatively, the McFarland’s bar is the clubs own bar and will be welcoming both Derby and Rangers fans. You can only access this bar if you have a ticket which can be purchased on the Derby FC website. This is a separate ticket and a match ticket will not allow access. There are many restaurants also located near the stadium, as well as coffee shops such as Starbucks. Frankie and Benny’s is the closest restaurant to the stadium, located just 0.1 of a mile from the stadium. Chiquito, another restaurant, is a 5 minute walk from the stadium and Burger King is a 10 minute walk. There will be lots more pubs and restaurants in the Derby City Centre area, and buses run from the stadium to the city centre regularly. The city centre is around a 40 minute walk from the stadium so it will be quicker to take the bus or a taxi.

Police Advice

We have teamed up with Derby County police to produce this away day guide. They have asked that fans follow the following advice in order to ensure there are no delays on entering the stadium:

– Arrive at the stadium at least 30 minutes before 1pm (Kick off)
– Fans have tickets ready to be inspected
– Fans arriving at Derby rail station have their tickets ready for inspection upon arrival
– Fans do not consume alcohol on the train. British Transport Police will be travelling on all trains from Derby to Scotland
– Any fan who is intoxicated will not be admitted to the stadium or will be removed during the match
– All banners should not be unfurled outside the stadium, but can be done so when seated.

We hope this guide helps you with the trip to Derby. Enjoy!
